church worshipFUSIONchurch began with four people praying for God to do something amazing. Then God led those people together. As they met in coffee shops and in their living rooms, they shared their passions and dreams with one another over several months. It became clear that God was calling them to start a new faith community in Atlanta that would change the way people think about Jesus and the church.

Their dream was that church would be about:

Grace. Not guilt.

People. Not politics.

Relationship. Not religion.

They began by serving in a young adult café worship, which they called FUSION, at Marietta Adventist Church, where Pastor Chris was on staff. At the same time, they began prayer-walking in downtown Atlanta and asking God to direct their steps, while also meeting many of the urban dwellers.

Predicting the explosive growth in the re-development of west midtown, it seemed God was leading towards this community. Then a friend’s client said the group could use a warehouse for free. That confirmed that God was leading into this area. The surrounding neighborhoods were surveyed to see the interest level in a church that sought to make the community a better place. Even those who do not attend church said that it was a good idea. As the group got to know the area better, The DeFoor Centre was chosen to be the gathering place for worship.
